Last class , it became seeming that Apple was planning to introduce a novel SIM circuit board , even tinier than the micro SIMs it uses in the iPhone 4S and iPad . But now Apple is endeavor to push the idea through regulator — and its competitors are having none of it .
The Financial Times reportsthat RIM , Motorola and Nokia are n’t happy with Apple ’s innovation . In fact , it ’s actually the causa that all three have their own ideas for a future tense , smaller SIM — they’re just scared that Apple is going to end up with patents for the intention which they ’ll have to stop up licensing . According to the FT ’s source , Apple ’s version of the nano - SIM would call for a “ draftsman ” to protect it — much like the designs already featured in the iPhone and iPad .
The unexampled nano SIM designs are about a third smaller than the micro - SIM and , patently , making the SIM low allows modest step-down in machine size . It seems , however , that Europe ’s standard body , ETSI , is on the side of Apple ’s competitors for now , so it the journey to a smaller - SIM future may not be a liquid one .
