Hot on the heel ofNetflix’sThe Dragon Prince , fromAvatar : The Last Airbenderhead writer Aaron Ehasz , the studio has just stealthily announce that Avatar is coming back in an all - new , springy - action serial .
Along with the first piece of concept art from the forthcoming reboot , Netflix announced that The Last Airbender ’s co - Maker Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are both signed on to oversee the show , something they ’ve been planning on for ages .
In a public statement , DiMartino and Konietzko press out their fervor about the upcoming show and made a point of state that this incarnation of the Aang ’s story will asterisk characters of color , unlike M. Night Shyamalan ’s much - maligned 2010 The Last Airbender :
“ We ’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live - action mechanism adaption of Avatar : The Last Airbender . We ca n’t expect to realize Aang ’s existence as cinematically as we always think it to be , and with a culturally appropriate , non - whitewashed mold .
It ’s a once - in - a - lifespan fortune to build upon everyone ’s great work on the original animated serial publication and go even deeply into the characters , account , natural process , and globe - construction .
