Walk through New York City’sBlood Manorin the dark , and you might have a heart attack . Explore it with the lights up and you ’ll see a serial publication of simple tech trick designed to scare the pants off you .
We got a look inside the haunt house last October with co - owner Jim Faro , who got his start in the 80s turn his Queens home into an elaborated flighty manor . finally a hobby turned into a full - flight seasonal operation — one that does enough business from the beginning of October through the first weekend of November to lease the West Village space year - round .
So it ’s no surprisal that Halloween revelers flock to origin Manor in droves . But what is it that ’s in reality render them a fright ? It ’s a series of simple mystifier composition really : a bunch of animatronics trigger off by atmospheric pressure pads to make snake god pop out of nowhere ; projectors that emit images of ghostly figures ; originative light that disorients you otherwise in each elbow room ; actors made up to look like deranged medico , stumbler , werewolves , and a garden mixed bag of body snatcher ; and of course , pot auto and heaping doses of scary , scary phone .

Alone , these creep - coutrements might raise a tomentum or two . But throw some simple technical school together , add a handful of faux pedigree and dreadful genius , and origin Manor becomes something truly terrifying .
Blood Manoris undecided Tuesday - Sunday from now until November 2
