RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis was just on stage at the Dive Into Mobile group discussion , babbling on about who knows what . It seems he ’s render to justify his reason for wanting to cleave with outdated smartphone tech . Instead , he ’s delimitation incomprehensible .
RIM has been taking plenty of criticism latterly for what many perceive to be risky strategy when it comes to their approach to smartphones , and the OS that power those earpiece . This consultation did n’t do much to rise RIM ’s naysayers wrong .
Based on what All Things D tells us , Lazaridis basically was a support , breathing contradiction in terms for 30 minutes . It started off well enough , cite the Playbook ’s Q1 2011 release windowpane and explicate that the QNX Playbook OS is an entirely unexampled engineering science , that ’s not associate to the Blackberry OS at all .
But then it fell aside . Lazaridis started trying to excuse how Blackberry is concentrate on Enterprise ( but they ’ve crossed over ! ) , and how they ’re not trying to cram a pill group O into a smartphone ( because BB 6 still rules ! But Playbook O will someday be on smartphones ! ) . Even host Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher had fuss keeping up with his train of thought .

Walt : So did you decided to chain yourself to lowest common denominator technology ?
Mike : Technical discussion of multicores . Says competitors memorize how big a market there is . We built our own applied science , etc .

Mike : First of all , the Torch was designed to be a launching fomite for BB 6 . That argument could be used in reverse . In a earth where Half VGA was high performance , the human beings had moved on to 1GHz CPUs and higher res displays … when you see how promptly that earphone move around , just imagine the next generation …
