At the Toronto International Film Festival premier ofThe Boy and the Heron , news broke thatHayao Miyazaki’sretirement plansmay have been announced too soon .
In an audience withCBCon the red rug for the movie ’s TIFF premiere , Studio Ghibliexecutive Junichi Nishioka shared that the animation legend may have not taken retreat too seriously — sure enough not as seriously as the media has . “ Other citizenry say that this might be his last film , but he does n’t find that way of life at all , ” Nishioka narrate CBC about Miyazaki ’s have sex quicksilver temper . “ He is presently working on mind for a new film . He come into his place every sidereal day and does that . This time , he ’s not kick the bucket to announce his retreat at all . He ’s continuing working just as he has always done . ”
Well , there you have it : the 83 - year - erstwhile master of animation remains as irregular and full of idea as ever . He really had us there acting all solemn about this being his last film before being like “ just josh ! ” That ’s so Ghibli of him and we ’re take over .
