Superman may be thefirst hero out of the gatesat DC Studios but everyone wants to love about Batman . IsRobert Pattinson ’s Batmangoing to part of James Gunn ’s DC Universe ? IsThe Brave and the Boldstill happening ? IsAndy Muschietti still take that ? Could it have Pattinson in it ? There are heaps and lots of Bat - interrogative sentence and hopefully , here are some squash racquet - answer .
When James Gunn and Peter Safran got the keys to DC over two years ago , Warner Bros.had just late announced a sequelto Matt Reeves ’ 2022 hitThe Batman . Gunn and Safran plan to let Reeves do his affair , and they ’d cast their own Batman in a moving-picture show calledThe Brave and the Bold . However , almost three days have passed since Reeves’Batmansequel was announced and , after multiple delays , it ’s still almost three year away . Is DC really going to wait almost five years to make its own Batman moving picture ?
Last hebdomad , io9 was at Warner Bros. to speak to Gunnand Safran and they assay to lay out the record straight person . “ We love Matt Reeves ’ vision forThe Batman Part IIand we ’re looking forward to this plastic film as much as you are , ” Safran state . “ He has n’t yet turn in a playscript but what we ’ve read so far is very encouraging . And on that same front , we ’re in very active development onBrave and the Bold . That story is also coming together very nicely . We ’ll have more on that for you very soon . ”

But what about Pattinson ? Is he proceed to move out of the Reeves macrocosm into the DC Universe ? “ It ’s certainly not the plan , ” Gunn said . “ And we love him , ” Safran summate . “ But we have to premise a Batman into the DCU . It ’s imperative . And so that ’s the plan withBrave and the Bold . ” Gunn added that he is personally “ very , very actively take in ” the writing of that picture .
Where does that leave Andy Muschietti?The FlashandItdirector has been attached toThe Brave and the Boldfor a while and Gunn and Safran said that ’s still the fount … if he wants to . “ We ’re developing this script right now and we ’re belong to show Andy what we have when it ’s in a place where we guess it ’s ready to go and see if it ’s a fit , ” Safran say .
One thing that is definitely a fit isClayface . It ’s presently schedule for release in September 2026 , and Gunn explain the character had to be in their DC Universe because it would n’t fit in Reeves ’ humanity . “ It was significant that Clayface be part of the DCU . It ’s an lineage story for a classic Batman villain that we need to have in our Earth , ” Safran said . “ He ’s very much out of doors of the sort of ground , non - super meta - human characters in Matt ’s populace , ” Gunn added .
So there we have it . Matt Reeves’The Batman Part IIwill be out October 2027 . It will not wed into the DC Universe . The Brave and the Boldis still in the works , will have its own Batman , and will be much less ground than those film . At this rate though , it seems likely it wo n’t be out until 2028 at the earliest .
