So can the series still force out from under all of this drama ? We actually think so , if the show commence give the fans what they want . So we round up a few promising ideas for how SGU could win back all the hater .
What We Want More Of
Colonel Everett Young
Louis Ferreira is the glue that is concur the Destiny , and this show , together . In these last few episodes , Young has become a much larger part of the account without reveal much , if anything , about his past . And yet I ’m rivet . This character and actor have n’t had a trip-up yet . It ’s an right-down delight ravel out the secrets behind this character . Even when he ’s a bit gruff , Young has a reassuring and naturalistic manner that set the crew at informality by merely pronounce , “ I ’ve done this 12 times , no big bargain ” credit . No need for the split second and nod routine , he sets the standard but by being himself .
Plus , he can really pull off that something - is - boiling - underneath , tortured soulfulness reckon — without being as cheesy as how I just account it . As opposed to Rush ’s character , who just holler , claptrap , and raves to a percentage point where I do n’t really care what he ’s hiding . Rush ’s a petty little jerked meat who remind me more of the Nick Burns IT guy than a excruciate genius . Even when he ’s quiet he ’s just trying too hard to be a “ frustrated dick . ” We know Robert Carlyle is a great actor , I ’m just hope they give him more to figure out with and presently . Because right now his mystery and equivocal lesson are lost in his Nick Burns antics .
Meanwhile , Young jockey on his wife and I still wish him obscene amounts of happiness . Either give us more Young , or induct in the other characters the way you have invested in Young .
The Women
What ’s Ming - Na ’s character ’s name ? Seriously , what is it ? I draw a blank almost every prison term , because she has had perfectly no filmdom time or character ontogenesis in this series . evidently , because she ’s a hard bottom and works for a troupe , that makes her crucial . Same pass for TJ . Sure it seems that she and Young had a thing go on at one time , but that ’s all I can tell you about her , besides the fact that she can keep a cool caput under atmospheric pressure .
Critics have been accusing SGU of being sexist for weeks now , and when the only distaff character with a turgid speaking role is kip with one male reference and take in out with another virile case while crying and drunk , well … get ’s just say it ’s been a lose battle thus far . Let ’s hope tonight ’s episode changes all that , please ? More womanhood . I think I may like T.J. , so spell her into the floor . Let me like T.J. please ! Oh , and Ming - Na ’s character is named Camile Wray , by the way .
flashback
While we ’re asking for more from our character , whatever happened to all the flashbacks from the commencement of this serial ? I ’d even take another super - spiritual flashback priest in the desert heat stroke flashback . Whatever , as long as it mean getting to screw these masses well . So how about it ? More flashbacks please ? You do n’t have to break all the secrets but perhaps just a mouthful so we manage when Greer continually act like a psycho . Give us a grounds behind it something not just a bragging “ well he ’s damaged ” pestle and expect us to just make do with it because he experience naked when he opine it ’s death fourth dimension . Even a blurry quicky jump similar to Eli ’s Mom vision helps . Something please .
Natural Humor
David Blue has been saddled with the amazingly immense task of bringing liquid body substance to this otherwise dark show . He ’s just about the only person who does anything light , and sadly it ’s usually improbably forced . But that ’s his character , a socially awkward , but lovable dude . It ’s okay when his laugh descend out forced , because that ’s what his sense of humour was set up to do : work like a demurrer mechanism for the character .
So when you see Eli Wallace showing existent emotion , it ’s strong not to get choked up . Even when they paint him as the panting , lovesick grind , which they screw to do , he cut through his own BS with one Orcinus orca knowing glance . This is why he actually crop as a socially awkward sometimes shady , sometimes beating the joke to death reference . But it get ’s muddled when SGU asks too much of Eli . It ’s near next to impossible to be funny , awkwardly amusing , diffuse the moment funny and defense mechanism mechanism funny at the same time , and all alone . He needs some supporter here .
The show really needs a bit more unforced humour . This crew must lighten up somehow ; that way , we wo n’t be expecting everything Eli says to be funny . If we lighten his humor burden , we could consider him as a fully imprint grapheme with fault , and not just the character who ’s suppose to make you laugh , because no one else is . Stargate author are mirthful , we eff this , so blend the darkness and the humor they right smart we know you may , and promised you would .
Team Adventures
The best part of a Gate serial publication is redact the crew on a strange satellite and watching what materialise . Thankfully , I reckon tonight will welcome back this custom . Sure , it ’s been fun seeing pairs here and there on the C. P. Snow planet and desert major planet , but I want to see the team flee for their life from native beasts or wild hostiles . It ’s more interesting than “ What has Destiny carry out of this week ? ” Still , I think we ’ll be seeing a raft more of this in the future .
What We Want Less Of
The Slow Burn

I think we all realise that selection is the first precedency on Destiny , and watch human race freak out about a lack of strain , water , or might is interesting , but only if I ’m emotionally touch base to the character who could perish . I ca n’t think I ’m pronounce this but , I could do with a lot less sex in this show . Much of the bumpin ’ and grindin ’ just feels like sexuality for sex ’s sake — specially with the Senator ’s daughter and Scott .
I get it : sexual practice sell , and sideways naked shots of young people in front of a yellow windowpane expect fairly , but what ’s the degree ? I just ca n’t see or feel the importance of this natural process . It just seems like , “ We can have gender now on this Stargate , so we did . ” Especially when it ’s paired next to a Richard Dean Anderson view with him being , well , his honest-to-goodness endearing self , it ’s jarring and serves no function .
I honestly have no idea why these two nestling are sleeping together . Is it a “ We ’re young and wild ” thing ? A High Fidelity “ put cigarette out on me or catch some Z’s with me ” emotion ? Are they using each other , in love , in lust ? All I we know is that Chloe feels “ closer to Scott than anyone she ’s ever feel closer to ever , ” or something terrible like that . It ’s pestering , and they are annoying together whenever they start making out in a hallway like high school kids . “ Hey remember when your daddy pass over there ? We should make out . ” Same work for the broom closet gender . What was the point of have it if James was only going to be jealous of Scott ’s new Saturday night lady for five second gear ?
It ’s one affair to pull a twist like a mid - sex ancient stone cooperator switcheroo , which they did with Young and Colonel David Telford in “ Earth . ” It may have been an super lame gimmick , but at least it meant something . There was build up for Young ’s fictitious character , and even the switch mean something — well we hope so , or else would Telford show up at Young ’s wife ’s house at the end of the episode ? Either way , I ’m scheme and harbour , but all this flat other sexual urge should terminate . It ’s ruining the good sex .
Just a few among many mesmerism we ’ve listen . fundamentally this show needs more time to build up these part . I require to wish every single Destiny crowd member , I honestly do . It ’s just been a destiny of watching with very piddling connection thus far .
