Kate Hudsonis looking back on her special connection with herHow to Lose a Guy in 10 DayscostarMatthew McConaughey.
“It was truly an amazing experience,” she toldVanity Fairof the 2003 rom-com in a video interview posted Tuesday, March 11. “And Matthew just brought it. And he always does.”
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysfound Hudson starring as Andie Anderson, a magazine journalist working on a story detailing the behaviors that can get a man to dump you within 10 days. McConaughey played Benjamin Barry, the handsome advertising executive Andie chooses to test her theory with.

“I think there’s just a similar energy that somehow allowed us to be able to really connect onscreen and fall in love,” she added.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Dayswasn’t the only film in which the duo played love interests: Hudson and McConaughey reunited to star in 2008’sFool’s Gold, in which they played exes who reconnect on a madcap quest to find a sunken treasure.

“It’s like, you have great loves of your life, and then, like, as actresses I think you have great loves in your work,” Hudson said of McConaughey. “And he’s one of my great loves. And I think that just is something that happens when you meet and you feel that chemistry.”
“I feel really lucky that I got to experience that with someone as talented and as fun as Matthew,” she said.

“[With] respect to our now-partners, we do kiss nicely,” Hudson said at the time. “It was always a very nice kiss.”
Hudson has beenengaged to Danny Fujikawasince 2021, while McConaughey has been married toCamila Alves McConaugheysince 2012.
McConaughey, meanwhile, chalked their chemistry up to their shared sense of humor and ability to improvise well together. “We enjoy going toe-to-toe,” he said.
“I think maybe it has something to do with our freedom. I feel like we’re both very free,” Hudson told McConaughey. “We don’t constrict ourselves to an idea of what we’re ‘supposed’ to be doing. There’s something spontaneous about the way we were able to work together.”
