Kenan Thompsonis throwing it back to his days on the ice.

Thompson, 45, shared a series of photos and images from his 1994 movie debut inD2: The Mighty DuckstoInstagramon April 3 and reminisced on his time filming the sequel to Disney’s original hit family-friendly hockey movie.

“The anniversary of D2: #MightyDucks…my first acting gig and it mayyyy or may not have been my first time skating too…😬😅😂 Let that be a lesson, folks!!! #FakeItTillYaMakeIt 🤣🤣🤣” Thompson wrote in a caption to his post.

Thompson, best known now for his longtime role as a cast member onSaturday Night Live, got his start in acting as a teenager in the early ’90s on Nickelodeon’sAll Thatand with the secondMighty Ducksmovie.

Though Thompson did not appear in Disney’s original 1992Mighty Ducksfilm, he joined the movie’s cast — which includedEmilio Estevez,Shaun Weiss, Scott Whyte andJoshua Jackson, among others — as Russ Tyler, a player who specializes in shooting the “knuckle puck.”

Thompson’sMighty Duckscostar Whyte, who played an opposing team’s player in the movie, commented on his post, writing, “Yer a legend… we all knew it back when! Love you dude!”

Disney’s threeMighty Ducksmovies, released in the ’90s, follow Gordon Bombay (Estevez), a former youth hockey player and Minnesota attorney. In the original 1992 film, he is tasked with coaching a youth hockey team to serve a community service sentence.

The following two sequels center around Bombay and the kids on the team he takes on, who become known as the Mighty Ducks: inD2, the team reunites to represent the United States at an international youth sports tournament in Los Angeles.

Thompson went on to appear in the third and finalMighty Ducksmovie Disney released in the ’90s, which followed the team’s players as they attend a new high school and compete with its successful varsity hockey team.

Thompson credited his time making theMighty Ducksmovies with sparking his own interest in hockey during a 2022 interview withESPN. Disney even founded the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks in the 1990s after making the firstMighty Ducksfilm.

“It’s always been super-duper love. Hockey fans can get a little rowdy after the game and stuff, but they just want to shout outThe Mighty Ducksand tell me how much they meant to them, how it kept them motivated on their hockey paths,” Thompson told the outlet at the time. “It’s always been a lot of love.”
