The reality star announced her plans to donate 1,000 pairs of shoes to a teenager’s charity drive after watching a television special about her goal while breastfeeding her newborn son.
“I’m up breastfeeding & watching this show Dish Nation,” the reality star tweeted in the wee hours of Thursday morning. “I heard the cutest story of a girl who is trying to find 1000 pairs of shoes to donate to this charity Soles For Souls! They helped her during Hurricane Katrina.”
Kardashian West noted that husbandKanye Westmight be of help, as well, writing, “I think I know the designer ofShoe of the Year Award!”
According toDish Nation, Kansas teen Amelia Flores is working with organizationSoles4Soulsto collect 2,000 shoes. The group, which donates shoes to those in need, helped Flores’ extended family during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and she wants to give back.
At the time of broadcast, Amelia had gathered nearly 1,000 pairs, andDish Nationchallenged viewers to help her collect the final 1,000 before Dec. 18.
“Kanye and I would love to donate those 1000 shoes to Soles For Souls,” Kardashian West, 35,wroteon Thursday. Kardashian West added that she was attempting to find Flores online but hadn’t yet been successful.
“So whoever you are ….these shoes are for you!” she said. “We will contact Soles For Souls! You reached your goal, so proud of you!!! xoxox.”
Flores heard Kardashian West’s calls and seemed surprised at the star’s donation.
“I really hope Kim k is talking abt me,” sheTweetedon Thursday morning.
Dish Nationwas quick to respond to the 17-year-old, writing back “SHE IS!!!”
Flores has now expanded her search after finding out that she can travel with Soles4Souls to distribute the shoes if she collects 25,000 and asked her social media followers to help her toward the goal.
