At her Decemberwedding,Meghan Trainorwalked down the aisle to one of her own original songs — and she just released it!
On Friday, the pop star droppedThe Love Train, a new EP that includes Trainor’s own ukulele-backed wedding song“Marry Me.”But the Grammy winner hadn’t planned on sharing the track with the world.
“I never thought I would release it,” Trainor says of the sweet ditty. “There’s a place online where my fans — they’re so smart — they can go see what songs are registered. So they’ll see a list of titles and be like, ‘What is ‘Marry Me’? Release it now!’ So they’ve known about that for a while, and they’ve been begging for it. I was like, ‘Ooh, they’re never gonna hear that.'”
Trainor adds: “But when I walked down the aisle to it, I was like, we gotta get this out somehow, in some special way. I’m excited because it might be nice for other people if they wanna walk down the aisle to it.”
“It’s very much all my real stories with him,” Trainor explains of the EP.
“‘All the Ways’ was a joke he said to me on the couch when I was like, ‘Tell me you love me,’ and he was like, ‘I love you,’ and I said, ‘Tell me all the says,’ and he said, ‘All the ways.’ And he’s not that funny, so that was like a hit for him, so I wrote that song!” Trainor adds. “And ‘I’m Down’ is about when we were too scared to say ‘I love you’ in the beginning — so instead we were just like, ‘Yo, I’m down to be with you forever. I’m down.'”

Trainor initially wrote the six songs on the EP for her upcoming third album,TreatMyself, expected this year. The singer-songwriter says has too much material for the LP, and she wanted to give fans some new music because the album’s release has been delayed.
“I’m super in love, and I wrote way too many love songs for my third album. We were like, ‘These songs are too good to just throw away and to not have on the album. How do I let them shine?'” says Trainor, who reveals she, her management and label decided to release an early Valentine’s Day present and “give people happy love songs — even if they’re not in a relationship, just to inspire them to spread love and be happy.”
As forTreat Myself, Trainor promises it’s coming: “[The Love Train] is just a taste of what it is. But these songs are so personal and so important to me that I just wanted to get them out as soon as possible.”
