Uber Eats Edits Its Super Bowl Commercial After Backlash Over Peanut Allergy

Viewers were not nuts for a joke inUber Eats’s Super Bowl commercial.

The original ad for the food delivery service was posted online on Feb. 6, but the version that aired during the big game on Feb. 11 omitted a peanut allergy joke.

One forgetful moment in the ad shared on Feb. 6, which can still be found inan unlisted YouTube video, shows a man eating spoonfuls of peanut butter while his eye swells up and his face breaks out in hives. “There’s peanuts in peanut butter?” he says. “Oh, it’s the primary ingredient.”

On Feb. 9, the CEO of the non-profit organization, Sung Poblete, shared an update. “I have spoken with Uber, they are very appreciative of FARE’s valuable perspective and feedback and have made a change to the ad that will air to the Super Bowl’s wide audience, they are editing out the reference to the peanut allergy,” astatementread.

Uber Eats did not respond to PEOPLE’s request to comment.

An updated version of the commercial was shared onUber Eats’s YouTube channelon Sunday morning and the commercial that aired during the Super Bowl did not include the peanut joke. In its place, there is a scene of someone forgetting how to sit in a chair.
